Up close and personal

I was born (1965) and raised in the heart of Rotterdam as I daily experienced the creativeness of both my father and mother. Literally living behind the succesful cigarette/cigar an souvenir shop, I became aware of how my parents ran their business. Next to wooden shoes, Delft Blue and all what Holland is famous for, merchandise from local and foreign footballclubs were in store as well. My father took pride in decorating the 8 square meter window which took him 2 full days, mixing local and international items effortlessly. My mother tought me all about the sewing machine and reading and changing paterns.

Once graduated I started working fulltime while raising my 2 beautiful daughters  and creativity began to move to the background. Through the years I more and more craved to be creative again and to expand in this direction.

During the holidays in Saint Tropez – France, out of the blue bag designing came across my mind!! I instantly got myself pen and paper and started drawing and writing down what came up. Feeling I was on the roll again.

When winds of change came by I found myself in between jobs and actually this made me feel blessed. I took the opportunity to start up with some help from my mother and husband. After working out paterns, sourcing for hardware and leather the sample making was about to begin. The industrial sewingmachine made overtime and samples were born.
Fullfilling my dream by starting my own brand and dedicating the Esta Bien logo to both my father and mother as creative and inspiring examples who never let themselves limit to mix national and international items. They both were actually masters in fusion.

I created the Esta Bien logo which covers a part of my name, the Spanish “it’s all good” wrapped in a butterfly as reminder to the man who passed away but still is somewhere out there guiding me in this journey.
